The next series of movements are representative of why the term, "plum blossoms" is associated with Hao family mantis. Like a multitude of blossoms blown from a plum tree by the wind, so the strikes of Hao family mantis are numerous and come at the enemy from all heights and directions.
The following movements contain five overt strikes, one overt kick and one covert kick.
The first three strikes, "Left Center Strike", "Right Center Fist" and the first strike of "Phoenix Pecks Three Times", are referred to as 流 星 赶 月 连 环 打 - liú xīng gǎn yuè lián huán dǎ - "A Meteor Chases the Moon Linked Strikes" in the ancient fist songs. This combination is found in the Hao family mantis fist sets: Zhi Lu, Tanglang Chu Dong and Zhai Yao Si Lu.

Right Pluck, Left Center Strike

Left Pluck, Right Center Fist
I step my left foot forward while grabbing the enemy's left wrist with my left hand and strike the enemy's neck with a right cross.
凤 凰 三 点 头
fèng huáng sān diǎn tóu
Phoenix Pecks Three Times
I step my right foot forward and strike the enemy's neck with a left cross. Then, I drop low and strike the pit of the enemy's stomach with a right punch. I finish with a crushing strike to the enemy's eye socket.
则 身 鸳 鸯 脚
zé shēn yuān yāng jiǎo
Incline Body, Mandarin Duck Kick
Next, I kick the enemy's groin and turn my body to move in the opposite direction to start the third line of the form. Note: As I turn, my right foot should hook the inside of the enemy's right knee and pull him off-balance to topple him as I shift my weight and begin to move in the opposite direction.
