并 步 站 立 bìng bù zhàn lì Stand with Feet Together
Face West and start with the feet together and the arms hang down naturally with the palms held against the outside of the thighs.
双 拳 抱 肘 shuāng quán bào zhǒu Both Fists Lift Elbows
This is the traditional breathing and qi gathering exercise used at the beginning of forms: Curl the hands into fists and bend the elbows until the fists are held vertically in front of the chest. Raise up on the toes and pull the elbows back until the fists are pointed toward the ground at the sides of the ribs. Drop the body weight onto the heels while opening the hands and thrust the fingers toward the ground.
