The Origin of the Form, "Plum Flower Road"
Unlike many kung fu forms whose origins are shrouded in mystery, Plum Flower Road has a well known beginning.
Masters Jiang Hua Long and Song Zi De were both born in 1855 C.E. in Shandong Province. Though Jiang was born into poverty and Song was born into wealth, they became sworn kung fu brothers during their childhood. During their teenage years, Jiang and Song began their tanglangquan training under Liang Xue Xiang in Laiyang County of Shandong Province.
After completing their training with Master Liang, Jiang and Song together established the Zhao Ge Zhuang Tanglangquan Wuguan in Laiyang. Together they taught many students. Some of whom would become famous masters themselves.
Various traditions credit either Jiang or Song with the creation of Plum Flower Road. In all likelihood, the form was probably created during their time teaching together in Laiyang.
Plum Flower Road has been passed to or stolen by nearly every family of mantis. It can be found in Plum Flower Mantis, Grand Ultimate Mantis, Grand Ultimate Plum Flower Mantis and Seven Star Mantis.

Wong Hon Fan's Fist Songs for Plum Flower Falling
The original name of this form in the quanpu (fist songs) of the various Greater Meihua lines is 梅 花 路 - Méi Huā Lù - "Plum Flower Road". However, in the Hong Kong based branch of Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Master Wong Hon Fan refers to the form as 梅 花 落 - Méi Huā Luò - "Plum Flower Falling" in his book on the subject.
From my communications with other descendants of Luo Guang Yu's lineage, it seems that only Wong Hon Fan used the title 梅 花 落 - Méi Huā Luò - "Plum Flower Falling".
In the preface to Wong Hon Fan's book he points to Hong Kong language differences as the basis for the discrepancy and notes that the boxing movements of the form remain the same.
